FCRCC Fundraiser – Grinch Photos – bring your pet, bring your team mates

WHERE: The Carousel Theatre is located at 1411 Cartwright St, Vancouver, BC , next to Granville Island Brewing WHEN: Sunday, December 9th from 10:30am – 2:30 PM WHO: ALL pets are welcome! DBC Coaching Community Dragon Boat

DBC Coaching Community Dragon Boat The course is intended for anyone interested in entry level coaching. Some of the material covered in the course includes; safety, ethics in coaching, coach-athlete communication, basic dragon boat technique, basic physiological requirements of dragon boat racing, race planning, practice planning, etc… Certification candidates will be required to successfully complete a written assignment and hold a small craft operator’s license before they are fully certified. Warm water OC1 huli recovery back at Lord Byng pool in November

Warm Water Huli Recovery We will be continuing the warm water huli program at Lord Bing Pool. The warm water hulis are open to members of the FCRCC who need expert instructions and/or practice on how to recover from a huli. The practice huli is done in warm water at the Lord Bing pool, in an environment where you can focus on various techniques on how to get back into your boat. FCRCC Spring Knockout 2019 – Registration is now open

When: May 4, 2019 all-day

****************************************** The FCRCC Spring Knockout will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 (Qualifying event for those teams wishing to go to National Championships and a DBC Race Series Event). This popular Knockout event sells out each year where teams will race two 200 meter heats to qualify into one of several similar-times “Knockout Divisions”, and then a 200 meter semi-final to determine placement & ranking in a Knockout Division. Novice OC6 Steering Course – cancelled

Novice OC-6 Steering Course  This course is designed for paddlers who would like to learn how to steer an outrigger canoe in a safe and supportive environment. The course starts with a classroom session that will cover the basics of steering including the roles and responsibilities of seat 6, communication, reading the water/tides and basics of the steering strokes. Fall into Outrigger Introduction Days

When: September 23, 2018 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Fall into Outrigger with FCRCC’s Outrigger Intro Days Each session will comprise two 3 hour practices aimed at dragon boaters, flatwater paddlers and canoers wanting to expand their paddling repertoire.  Experienced outrigger paddlers and coaches will take you through outrigger paddling technique, on water practices, canoe handling and care, and introduce you to Hawaiian culture.  Come down and give it a try.  Mahalo! Burrard compound clean up – April 29, 2018

When: April 29, 2018 @ 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Where: Burrard Compound Spring Cleanup, Whyte Avenue

OC-1 Orientation – Spring/Summer

When: May 6, 2018 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am
Where: OC1 Orientation, 1318 Cartwright – Granville Island

All paddlers using the OC-1 and other club equipment must be individual members of the False Creek Racing Canoe Club and must undergo a formal orientation to the club equipment. They must have club photo id to participate. Novice OC6 Outrigger – Its back for 2018!

When: May 2, 2018 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Where: Burrard Compound, Whyte Avenue

This is a co-ed program open to adults of all ages, and is coached by experienced FCRCC outrigger paddlers. Through this program, you will learn outrigger paddling technique (no paddling experience necessary), develop paddling fitness and be introduced to Hawaiian culture. Practices are held Mondays and Wednesday from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm, leaving from the FCRCC Burrard site.  Practices are twice each week for 4 weeks.
