Executive Committee

Largely volunteer-run, the club is always looking for people to help out with everything from running regattas to serving on the Executive Committee.  The club currently has 11 directors (positions listed below), and 2 staff.  If you are ever interested in helping out with something, please contact any member of the Executive.  Please also keep an eye out for requests for volunteers posted in the News section.

  1. Commodore (President)
    • Provides leadership to achieve the Club’s strategic goals
    • Chairs the Executive meetings
    • Liaises with key external stakeholders (such as CMHC), except FCCC
    • Signing officer
  2. Vice Commodore (Vice President)
    • Manages the paid staff
    • Liases with FCCC
    • Signing officer
    • Liaises with and Represents FCRCC on any Standing sub-committees at FCRCC Board meetings
  3. Treasurer
    • Has custody of the funds and securities of the Club
    • Keeps full and accurate accounts of all assets, liabilities, receipts and disbursements of the Club in the books belonging to the Club
    • Deposits all monies, securities and other valuable effects in the name and to the credit of the Club in such chartered bank or trust company, or, in the case of securities, in such registered dealer in securities as may be designated by the Executive from time to time
    • Disburses the funds of the Club as may be directed by proper authority taking proper vouchers for such disbursements
    • Renders to the Commodore and other Executives at the regular meeting of the Executive, or whenever they may require it, an accounting of all the transactions and a statement of the financial position, of the Club; and
    • Performs such other duties as may from time to time be directed by the Executive
  4. Secretary
    • Conducts the correspondence of the Club
    • Issues notices of meetings of the Club and Directors
    • Keeps minutes of all meetings of the Club and Directors
    • Has custody of all records and documents of the Club except those required to be kept by the Treasurer
    • Has custody of the common seal of the Club
    • Maintains the register of Members.
  5. Communications
    • Communicates with all paddling disciplines in order to give accurate and timely notifications of any and all club activity from program, local events to national and international events
    • Communicates information to the membership by email, web, or other means
    • Communicates with media regarding major Club events.
    • Manages content on the Club’s web site
  6. Equipment
    • Chairs the Purchasing Committee, which provides advice on the sourcing of equipment to meet current and future needs for the disciplines
    • Manages the repair and maintenance of the fleet in coordination with the discipline representatives and Purchasing Committee
  7. Dragon Boat
    • Coordinates a committee of representatives of all Dragon boat teams training out of FCRCC
      • This Committee will come together to address their plans, any issues and program needs
    • Reports on the status of the discipline and associated programs
    • Updates on regattas, races, fundraising
    • Communicates what is needed, wanted, etc., for the discipline
    • Updates the web site for Dragon Boat matters
    • Co-ordinates all related work projects – e.g., cleaning boats, etc.
    • Co-ordinates the Introductory Dragon boat school and corporate sessions
  8. Flatwater (includes sprint canoes and kayaks, marathon canoes, war canoe, surf-skis)
    • Coordinates a committee of representatives of all flat water teams and program training out of FCRCC
      • This committee will come together to address their plans, any issues and program needs
    • Reports on the status of the discipline and associated programs
    • Updates on regattas, races, fundraising
    • Communicates what is needed, wanted, etc. for the discipline
    • Updates the web site for Flatwater matters
    • Co-ordinates all related work projects – e.g., new fleet purchase/ replacement
  9. Outrigger
    • Coordinates a committee of representatives of all Outrigger teams and programs training out of FCRCC
      • This committee will come together to address their plans, and issues and program needs
    • Reports on the status of the discipline and associated programs
    • Updates on regattas, races, fundraising
    • Communicates what is needed, wanted, etc. for the discipline
    • Updates the web site for Outrigger matters
    • Co-ordinates all related work projects – e.g., new fleet purchase/replacement, work parties, etc.
    • Co-ordinates boat assignment for races and arranges boat transport
  10. Fund Raising
    • Develops goals and a plan for raising money
    • Refine that plan to adopt strategies and campaigns that reflect the ideals of the club
    • Identify and explore donor pools
    • Personally handle VIP donors
    • Write grant proposals and manage endowments with the FCRCC staff
    • Plan and manage marketing events such as dinners, receptions and parties
    • Develop alliances with other clubs and organizations
    • Work collaboratively to enhance fundraising efforts
    • Keep in contact with the Board, apprising them of fundraising successes
  11. Safety Representative
    • Advise the club on the requirements, policies and procedures for all aspects of safety
    • Perform risk assessments for all locations where the club operates
    • Act as the first point of contact for the club members with concerns over safety
    • Promote good safety practices within the club and make members aware of club policies in this area
    • Logging all incidents on and off the water
    • Maintaining any club first aid kits
