Intermediate OC1 SBC Sessions

These sessions are for paddlers who have completed an FCRCC OC1 Orientation, who are competent in our C-Lion OC1s, with knowledge of rigging, equipment care, steering and balancing, and who can do the standard 5 Km Time Trial course (Alder Bay ⇔ Science World) in 30-35 minutes.  The goals of these sessions are to work on technical skills, help paddlers build a strong foundation of stroke mechanics and increase paddling performance. SBC OC-1 Basic Fundamentals

These sessions are geared towards paddlers who have completed an FCRCC OC1 Orientation session, and are competent in our SurfRigger OC1s, with knowledge of rigging, equipment care, steering and balance.  The goal of this SBC is to build confidence and technical skills, while working out in an OC1, in a group environment. Cost: $60 plus HST Times: 5 Weeks Monday, 6 PM – 7:15 PM Paddlers must have boats rigged and ready to go by 6 PM. Small Boats Coaching

The Small Boats Coaching (SBC) program is a series of stroke improvement courses organized by FCRCC, for the benefit of FCRCC members. The program runs throughout the year and covers all types of small boats – e.g., OC1, V1 (Rudderless OC1), K1, and others. The courses offered are in part subject to demand, in part to availability of coaches. Specific courses will be announced on the website’s front page (under News). Our CanoeKids summer camp is a great way to introduce kids (ages 7-12) to sprint canoe and kayak paddling in a fun and safe environment. Each of our weekly camps run Monday through Friday 9am-4pm and will be taught by our Certified CanoeKids summer camp coaches. The camps will consist of a lot of fun games and activities both on the water and off, and are a great way for kids to meet other kids in the community, learn about teamwork, grow in self-confidence, and most of all…have fun! Junior Performance (14+ years) For kids aged U16 and up (kids who were 14 years old or older on Jan 1st, 2019). This program will focus on developing advanced canoe and kayak skills, competitive development and refining skills under race conditions, building strength, speed and endurance, and effective goal setting.  Paddlers are expected to attend both on-water and off-water practices, as well as train on their own according to a provided training schedule.  Athletes are also expected to attend the majority of regattas throughout the racing season as defined during the pre-season’s goal setting period with the coaches.
