This program introduces young paddlers to the fundamentals and foundations of sprint canoe & kayak paddling in a fun, safe, and team oriented environment. Our NCCP trained coaches will be teaching the basics of water safety, stroke technique, coordination, and balance in a variety of boats, while engaging the paddlers in a lot of fun games and team focused activities.  The focus here is on developing fundamental paddling and movement skills and engaging in developmentally appropriate sport and physical activity.



For kids aged 12 and under, or new paddlers.

*U12 age category means you were under 12 on Jan 1st of this year.

**New paddlers who are older than 12 years old would start off here just to pick up essential initial skills like balance and boat control, and then move into a more age-appropriate group.



  • No prior paddling experience required!
  • Have a positive attitude and willingness to focus, listen and learn!
  • Have an interest in paddling!
  • Be willing to participate in group warmups, workouts, and activities on the water and off.


Group Goals

  • Enjoy sport and demonstrate sportsmanship and teamwork.
  • Have great listening skills, build self-confidence.
  • Develop FUNdamental boat skills, teamboat skills, balance and boat control.
  • Develop racing experience in fun, low-stress environments.

Fall/Winter Program (Sept 19, 2022 – March 25, 2023)

We understand most kids are enrolled in several activities throughout the year so simply make what you can!  That’s why we offer several practice times a week.

  • Tues @ 4-5:30pm – Canoe/Kayak Paddle (switch to land training over the winter)
  • Thurs @ 4-5:30pm – Canoe/Kayak Paddle (switch to land training over the winter)
  • Sat @ 12-2pm – Canoe/Kayak Paddle + Body weights/Running
  • March Break Spring Camp
    • Week of March 13th, M-F 9am-3pm
    • Note: Program Break – week of March 20th.
