CKBC Fall Training Camp (Nov 8-11, 2014) - Burnaby, BC

Youth Paddling Programs

We have many exciting Youth paddling options to help keep your kids active!  Our youth paddling programs are structured based off the nationwide Canadian Sport For Life Long-Term Athlete Development model, and more specifically, the CanoeKayakCanada LTAD Model.  This model is designed to help kids develop optimally through stages, acquiring fundamental skills and progressively building on their technical and physical skills.

Kids can enter our programs many ways depending on how much paddling they want to do! We have Intro programs for those who only want to paddle once a week.  We have Racing programs for those who want to paddle more and do some racing.  And we have our Summer Camp programs!  Note: our racing programs also include the summer camp options already.

All of our programs are designed to optimize age-appropriate learning and physical developments. Our younger-aged programs are all about setting the right foundations for kids in terms of skills, body coordination, fitness, etc. while having lots of fun.  And as they get older, can continue to further refine their abilities, and perhaps train at a more competitive level if they want!

New paddlers are welcome anytime throughout the season!
If you would like to register and not sure where to begin, please contact and introduce yourself!  Tell us a bit about your son/daughter and their age, and we’ll help you get started.  Look forward to meeting you!

Join the FCRCC Youth Sprint team! For those who want to learn more advanced paddling skills and try out racing. Our Sprint Racing Program runs year long; broken up into a Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer season.

Our Fall/Winter program is geared towards developing paddling skills and improving overall strength and fitness through various cross-training activities in preparation for the upcoming Spring/Summer racing season.

Our Spring/Summer program continues to build fitness and paddling skills (in singles and teamboats) and the athletes compete in a variety of races (locally, provincially and nationally). Summer programs also include the summer camp options for the younger age groups.

Note: Program Ages here is used as a guideline to represent typical athlete pathway in this sport but is not strict. In the end, coaches will put athletes in training groups most appropriate to their current skill level where they will learn the most and build from there.

NEW PADDLERS:  New paddlers are welcome anytime!

If you’re a new paddler (regardless of your age), please first sign up for Intro to Paddling – Fundamentals and Foundations. From there, we will help you acquire initial skills and balance and build from there with the intention of getting you up to speed with your training age group.

Please contact if you’re unsure about which group to join and if you have any questions about how to get started! If you’re joining mid-season, please contact to ensure you have all the latest program details and the prorated program rate.

Our sport, club, and community is all volunteer run! Whether it be fundraising, officiating at a regatta, helping with grants, etc., we need parents to contribute a minimum of 15 hours this season to help the team out. A list of volunteer positions will be posted shortly!
