The Waverunners began as a team of friends from the University of British Columbia who paddled together for fun in 2000.  More than 20 years later, we have become a more competitive and diverse team, including people from all different backgrounds.  We have enjoyed paddling competitively at festivals within North America and internationally.  We are proud to be sponsored by Starbucks Coffee Company since 2003 and represent Canada within the Starbucks dragon boat community.

Our team’s mission statement:

We are a diverse team of paddlers working together towards the common goals of cohesion, advancement, competition and fun.  We achieve and surpass our goals by committing to:

1. Drive our overall personal fitness
2. Strive to improving our standings over last year’s races ~ we will be our best competition
3. Improve technique by mentoring, fostering and inspiring each other and being open to feedback
4. Always remember our driving passions to enjoy the sport and each other
