2020 IVF World Sprints, Hilo, Hawaii August 15-23, 2020 The deadline to submit Intents to Compete to CORA for the 2020 IVF World Sprints in Hilo, Hawaii is September 20, 2019. The western Canadian trials will be held at the Calgary Canoe Club in Calgary, AB on September 28-29, 2019. Welcome to Cathy Marr, our new Outrigger Rep. Cathy has taken over this position from Patti Lawson. A huge shout out and thank you to Patti who has been invaluable both at the Executive table and with the Outrigger Program over the last few years. As seen above, Cathy has expertise in many forms of paddling and steering from her gondoliering, dragon boating with Abreast in a Boat to her Outrigger paddling. This week Cathy is off to California with Mixed distance for the Catlina Change race.

Canada came home with 5 medals as well some close and strong finishes. FALL INTO OUTRIGGER WITH FCRCC’S OUTRIGGER INTRO DAYS Each session will comprise two 3-hour practices aimed at dragon boaters, flatwater paddlers and canoers wanting to expand their paddling repertoire. Experienced outrigger paddlers and coaches will take you through outrigger paddling technique, on water practices, canoe handling and care, and introduce you to Hawaiian culture. DRAGON BOAT CANADA NOVICE STEERSPERSON ACCREDITATION COURSE This course will ensure your steersperson has the skills required to confidently steer races. This 5 hour course features: low instructor: participant ratio in-class theory and on-water application highly skilled, experienced and knowledgeable facilitators. Skills taught, practiced and tested will include: crew commands and vocabulary forward and reverse steering left and right turns arriving and departing docks race situations.
